I upgraded our home network infrastructure tonight with a much, much, faster multi-channel WiFi Modem. Further, it has the hardware ports for me to now build the underground network bridge that will run at twin redundant Gigabit speeds to the Hapkido Barn.
This is a major step in the right direction for faster and more reliable network and getting our Barn Dojang online. Now I just have to bring out a contractor to trench a conduit and pipe from the house to the barn for data and running water. This summer we'll be shifting Hapkido Barn progress into high gear. Nobody seems to mind me filming wherever within or outside the house but having a dedicated facility will be soooo much better. Not only for remote training but also local and visiting students.

The Martinsburg WV seminar was, I think, a real success. Mr. Henry has an extremely nice dojang and many good people in attendance. Our hotel accommodations were the nicest of any THA seminar I've yet attended and they were priced very, very, reasonably. Seminar turnout was good and everybody genuinely seemed to be enjoying themselves. Many thanks to everybody who participated and to Mr. Henry for hosting. Also as always my appreciation to Grand Master Rodemaker who inspires young and old alike.
I was extremely pleased that one of Mr. Henry's Hapkido Online Club uke's, Mr. Colin, has decided to join up and promote. I found him very capable and was very honored to be able to test him and promote him in person. I was so inspired by Mr. Henry's Hapkido Online Club that I've decided to offer a Club Membership Package. It is frankly, the most economical membership package on Hapkido Online. It covers 6 lifetime THA memberships with two years of Hapkido Online service. For a budding martial arts school or an established school wanting to include a Hapkido Curriculum this is an amazing offer. We help you build a successful Hapkido Online Club and eventually a flourishing THA Charter School with pre-established teachers and students. Everything you need to make it. GM Rodemaker was so pleased with this idea that he has promised that any Hapkido Online club that has at least one Hapkido Online Black Belt will be offered a charter school membership at a substantial discount! Folks, I tell you this is an unprecedented opportunity. Don't believe me? Shop around, you will see. Hello Hapkido Friends,
We've had a couple of small setbacks and it has slowed progress. #1, I accidentally broke our video camera. Never fear, a new camera is on the way and it is really needed for the Green Belt videos! #2, I still do not have reliable high speed internet at our new home. I was making headway on my savings goal to have Cox Cable trench in a new line for the house when the camera broke. I decided to spend part of our Hapkido Funds on the camera. I know that you have entrusted me with your membership money and belt fees and I am committed to using those resources to forward Hapkido Online and make it better than ever. In light of this I've found a lightly used camera that is suitable. No point paying retail for something that's going to travel about in my gym bag. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Master Tim Feathers for helping out with the Digital Dojang while I get my I.T. ducks in a row. I would like to cheer Mr. Thobias on his efforts to build the very first Hapkido Online Club in Brazil. Those of you stateside with clubs understand just how much of a commitment that is. We are all behind you Thobias and Good Luck! Of course, Mr. David Henry and John Straka have my sincere thanks as well for their efforts to grow and develop their own Hapkido Club in West Virginia. Your participation and hard work have filled me with pride. Grand Master Rodemaker personally expressed his approval for our Hapkido Online Clubs to me on the phone this week. He thinks it’s a novel concept and should be a great stepping stone for new THA Charter schools. I would like to express my gratitude to my own family who have decided to give me two hundred square feet of our barn to build my new Hapkido Online Dojang in. Thematically I plan to make it strongly resemble the website with warm redwood tones and parchment colors. Finishes will be simple and affordable and in keeping with the Korean ways of doing more with less. I look forward to practicing and filming Hapkido in a room that has the look and feel of a traditional Dojang. Aahhh Dreams.... But first I'll focus on the necessities of getting internet and adding content. Never fear. Though they may not be big changes I continue to build the website and make refinements. Some of you may notice the little things that I have done to make it that much better. I am steadfast in my goal of making Hapkido Online great and giving you the very best Hapkido instruction I can. Everybody have a blessed and safe Thanksgiving Holiday! V/r, Jon Well I am on the other side of my massive household move. After a weak of leave I am back to work and back to Hapkido Practice. Thank you students for your patience. We are still unpacking and do not have internet at the new house yet but are working hard to get everything back online. It is my hope that I can be 100% operational again before Master Feathers enters his own household move. Thank God for redundancy.
I have it on good authority that he has been actively filming content for Hapkido Online and I look forward to getting that posted for your training needs. Some of you are chomping at the bit to see the higher level training. I assure you we are filming and adding content just as quickly as our daily lives allow. For those of you who are already way above the level we have already uploaded you are encouraged to train primarily through the digital dojang. Trust me, this is the very best way to learn online anyway, no video can come close to live interraction. Hapkido Online is in many ways just like a traditional martial arts school. Students come and go. Some stay for a month and some sign on for a year. Many, many will decide that martial arts is not for them and move on. A choice few will make this a lifelong journey and become very much like family. We will travel our paths and watch it all unfold together Hapkido friends. V/r, Jon P.S. local students in spite of many sore household move muscles I intent to hold practice this week as normal. Hopefully we can do a quick review and then proceed on schedule from here on out. Two soda's and three glasses of Tea equal....lots of quality time with your eyes open.
So I couldn't sleep. Today's belt test went well in the Digital Dojang (beta). However we noticed right away that if a person didn't have a webcam they could watch but not interact. If it were Joe Blow I might have been tempted to procrastinate. However when Master Feathers is watching on an old laptop and trying unsuccessfully to drop pearls of wisdom....that won't do. We decided pretty quickly that an old school text chat feature is needed. Furthermore I had the feeling for some time now that the video screen size was on the small side. It was time to make Digital Dojang Version 1. Six hours later it was more or less done. Yep pulled an all nighter. If ever you guys think I am making too much money on this deal, remember this night. For tomorrow will be hard. The good news is we now have a text chat feature. The Digital Dojang screen size is huge and takes up fully 7/8's of the whole screen. I also made it easier and faster to set up the system for the first time. Well it's 4:13 Sunday morning, church starts in six hours, think I will return to bed. |
